Who is Mark Williams-Cook?
  • Director at UK-based SEO agency Candour and the founder of AlsoAsked, an intent research SaaS tool.
  • I help develop our cutting edge strategies and research in the AI space, and when I get the chance I like to get involved in our more technical SEO projects.
  • I’ve been a competitive boxer, training several times a week for the last 6 years!

Mark Williams-Cook is a Director at UK-based SEO agency Candour and the founder of AlsoAsked, an intent research SaaS tool. At Candour, I’m responsible for our marketing, including our Core Updates newsletter, speaking at conferences, and a lot of the training materials we provide. I also work with the team helping develop our cutting edge strategies and research in the AI space, and when I get the chance I like to get involved in our more technical SEO projects.

At AlsoAsked, we are a team of 3, so I wear many hats. I own the product roadmap, the marketing, and end up doing a lot of the customer support too! I take this in my stride though, as the tool was originally built for our own agency, I am our own customer, which makes a lot of decisions much easier!

Outside of all things SEO, I’ve been a competitive boxer, training several times a week for the last 6 years!

Advice For Anyone Joining The Industry

  • Start building, it has never been easier. Whether it’s a WordPress site, or vibe coding something in Claude. Get involved with all of the free events going, meet people, learn.

Areas Of Interest

  • I’m interested in everything to do with SEO, but my passion really likes in trying to understand all of the components that come together to make the monolith that is Google work. I think this understanding, in context to their (Google’s goals), gives a really great starting blueprint to figure out if your SEO strategies are going to work, and be sustainable.

Any Results/Highlights From Your Work You Want To Promote? Any Impact You’re Proud Of?

  • Our team discovered a bug in Google search which revealed specific metrics and scored using in ranking, such as site quality score, consensus, and query categorisation. We were awarded the top bug bounty for this type of exploit of $13,337, which we added to our yearly charity donations
  • I am also particularly proud of the work we did with Rehabs UK, taking them from their old agency, flatlining on a few hundred visits a per month, to 10,000s of unbranded, organic, high-intent visitors per month, generating them record business and new opportunities – all through a well-executed SEO strategy in a very competitive space.
