Grant Simmons is the Director of SEO/GEO at Fiat Growth and a freelance SEO consultant at Simmonet Marketing with over 25 years of experience working both agency and client side. In these roles I solve complex site & unique visibility challenges for enterprise and start up brands.
I love working with diverse clients with various levels of expertise where I can take the role of mentor, teacher and trusted resource. I have been fortunate enough to speak at SEO & marketing conference across the US and around the world, which ties perfectly into my love of travel (with my wife) and sailing, because a great day on the water is better than a good day at the office!
Advice For Anyone Joining The Industry
- Understand audiences, how, where, and why they search… context is king. Forget keywords, thing about intent. It *is* all about the user.

- Current worm fraction at Fiat Growth and Clickfluent Consulting managing SEO and GEO clients at large corporations and series B startups.
- Also run a successful consultancy – Simmonet Marketing – for the last 25 years, born out of the agency I started in 2001.
- As anyone who has experience, understands user problems and has a knowledge of programming, I’m also involved in a number of SaaS projects as either founder or co-founder, hoping to bring useful tools to the marketing vertical.
- I’m also the US ambassador for InLinks and Waikay, entity-based tools for SEO and GEO respectively. They are tools I use myself.

Any Results/Highlights From Your Work You Want To Promote? Any Impact You’re Proud Of?
- I was hired at homes dot com to figure out what was wrong… the site had lost 70% of its traffic and they didn’t know why. I identified in my job interview the challenge and the fixes.
- Shortly after joining the company fixes were deployed and we tripled traffic within 9 months.
- As the POC for Red Bull US, I am pretty ‘chuffed’ about the impact and influence I had on their content team, going from ‘content authored by experts” to “content recognized by Google as expert” resulting in significant lift in organic visibility and clicks to their better organized and structured content.

First Job
- Washing dishes and delivering newspapers.
- First “real” job was as a computer programmer/operator in 1980 – DEC PDP 11
Worked on inputting geological data, cleaning that data, and outputting strata visualization for oil exploration. Computers took up a whole room in that era and ran off of 4MB of RAM
